Reighton Road

No plan led to their arrival,
Between the silent ice cream van,
And the barred up Hotel De Silva,
The one bed had only been expecting one.

Where once dust specs danced through shards of light,
A desk stood,
A chair,
A bike.

And so the walls breathed in.

We basked in the sunset walls that summer,
Reflected radiance dappled endless late nights.
Reaching around the edges of vision,
We glimpsed somewhere else.

The working day was an 11 o'clock shadow,
Blink and all that was left was blinding brilliance.

The open window let light in,
And friends in,
And cats in.
The weight of the thick musky air,
Smoothed their souls.

When the ice cream van flew south,
When their shadows grew long,
When the bailiffs arrived,
They moved on.

Snow Jacket

Oak-leaf green,
With more than a hint of army.

Built in snow skirt for warmth,
Under arm zips to keep cool.

How long have you had it now?
You couldn't tell.

When it snowed you gave it up for me,
Cocooned me.
Every fastener pulled in tight,
Till I was a walking duvet.

Rebellious green against a charcoal suit.
A single frog springing against a murky river,
Will always leave ripples.

A Clever Piece of Meerketing

I got sent this link the other day and it made me laugh out loud, on closer inspection it's an interesting piece of marketing designed 'Orange' style with the aim of endearing the brand to you.

It's the kind of advertising I really want to hate, like the 'I am who I am' campaign http://www.i-am-everyone.co.uk/i-am-everyone.html but despite myself I'm still drawn in. Just like they want...damn!
